Sustainability

Progress against climate change starts with BigTed

Sustainability is based on the concept of leaving the earth in a better state for future generations. Now more than ever meeting our responsibility to help shape a more sustainable future is essential. It reflects in our work, our daily lives and the quality of work we provide.

As animal lovers and an environmentally conscious business it is our responsibility to live and produce in a way that is sustainable and wildlife-friendly. Every day there are fewer places left that wildlife can call home, pushing planetary boundaries. Earth’s natural capabilities are being tested at an increasingly alarming rate.

BigTed and sustainability, building safety and environmental sustainability into every product.

By modernising our materials, redesigning our products and packaging we ensure that our products are safe for consumers and workers and have a positive impact on the environment.

Delivery packaging are re-designed and re-engineered to reduce our impact on the environment and preserve habitats. Made in England from FSC-certified paper and 66% recycled materials, using plant-based inks.

Lifetime repairs

Help BigTed reduce stuffed toys’ impact on the environment by caring instead of disposing.

Each teddy comes with a Lifetime Repair Guarantee, so you can love your teddy for years to come.

Large stuffed toys can be very high maintenance especially when they are loved by little ones. To make it easier for our customer to care about the planet we created Teddy Hospital.

During its stay at the teddy hospital your teddy will be carefully checked, repaired, steam cleaned and brushed before being sent back to you.

Recycling

Sadly, most recycling centres don’t accept stuffed animals. So when you dump your teddy bears in the refuse bin, they’ll end up in our landfills. To prevent this we created a free national recycling program. Simply send in your teddy and we’ll recycle it for you.

Our impact plan

We’re implementing sustainable and equitable practices within our business by evaluating our supply chain and creating a transition plan so we can move to net zero. As part of our commitment to be net zero by 2030, we set an Internal Carbon Price that will help us measure and account for our carbon impact. Setting targets around energy efficiency, distribution and around the supply chain. From impact on biodiversity to the impact on social inequity, we’ve considered many dimensions of change and are confident we will make a significant difference.

A word from the BigTed founder

“There is so much more to do, and we are determined to focus on where we can make the biggest difference in the world. Meaningful, lasting change doesn’t happen overnight, but together we’ll be able to learn from our efforts and drive change.”
